My four year old St. Bernard has Addison’s disease and takes medication daily and an injection once a month. Will Arthro-IonX be safe for him? He has hip dysplasia, sometimes so severe he can not get up or walk and has to have cortisone shot.
Thank you.

Dear Linda,

Arthro-IonX would be safe for your St Bernard because it contains micro-nutrients that stimulate healing but would not interfere with other medications given. It is important to keep him mobile and comfortable, so Arthro-IonX is something that you might want to try. Do you give a special diet or supplements?

Best wishes,

Dr. Char,

Thank you for your reply. Yes I give him Cosequin DS, four tabs a day, and feed him Solid Gold Adult Maintenance Holistique Blendz. Is there something better?
Thank You,
Linda

Dear Linda,

You are providing a good diet and supplement. For my Bernese Mountain Dog I give a high quality kibble with digestive enzymes sprinkled on it and some raw food that is commercially prepared containing ground bone, meat, organs, and kelp. Sometimes I give probiotics, too. I add Arthro-IonX to the water bowl so that the cats get some, too. Hope these ideas help; just make sure any changes you make are gradual so the intestinal flora has time to adjust.

Best wishes,
Dr Char
