Fleas, Ticks, Mange and Your Pet

Fleas
Arguably the most common of skin parasites, the flea thrives in an ideal environment ranging from 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Typically, adult fleas live around three weeks. During this period, a female is capable of laying several hundred eggs around your home.
Only about 5% of the flea infestation lives on your pet at any given time, so it’s important that you clean your home as well as your pet. Defendex™ is here to help you succeed at both.
Ticks
Ticks are not insects like fleas and lice, but instead are arachnids like spiders and mites. Some cite ticks as the most irritating skin condition. In the USA alone, there are over two-hundred species of ticks. Ticks are notorious for carrying various types of diseases.

Mange

Mange is most prevalent around the eyes, elbow, and knees. It can cause loss of hair, skin damage, and even scaling of the skin. Severe cases of mange can result in anemia.
Lice
One of the most common skin parasites are lice. The life cycle a single louse will typically last around 21 days – during which, the louse will feed, lay eggs, and then finally die.
There are two kinds of lice: Annoplura and Mallophaga. Annoplura burrow into your pet’s skin and feed on blood. Mallophaga, on the other hand, simply chew on the exterior skin.
