“I can get him purring really easy now”
After over $1200 of tests, two months, and 4 vet visits from two different doctors, the last prognosis for my beloved 9 year old tabby cat was that he probably has a brain tumor. His balance is gone, and when he does try to walk now, his front and hind legs stay very rigid, even after I’ve picked him up and put him in comfortable bedding. One heavy dose of Promaxol and subsequent recommended dosing has definitely given me peace of mind that Fonzo is in much less pain.
Upon his initial dose, his fast respirations (indicating pain) lessened to an almost normal state which hadn’t happened since he first started showing symptoms of illness. It’s only been a week since starting administering Promaxol, and Fonzo is able to walk a little without his legs and back becoming so rigid, which allows him to get some exercise. He does sleep a lot now, but it’s a restful sleep with a very content look on his face, and I can get him purring really easy now, which was not at all the case before using Promaxol.

The last vet I spoke with had indicated I should probably euthanize Fonzo, but I hate to put him through the car trip and trauma of a vet office visit as his last time on this earth. Sarge, my 50 pound Schnauzer mix, had x-rays in October 2010 that showed both hips were very deteriorated. I did not renew the vet’s initial prescriptions for pain and inflammation when they ran out. “I have been able to take her off the pain meds”
I have two dogs and they both are 14 years old. Little Bit is 6 months younger than Baby. They are sisters born 6 months apart. (They have the same mom & dad.)
Little Bit got arthritis in her injuries she got from her siblings when she was a puppy before we took her in. She had been doing good up until about age 10. She started having bad problems again – getting up and down the steps and just getting at all. We started her on joint meds, also anti-inflammatory meds. They have helped some, but the older she gets, it does not seem to help as much. Baby started having problems about at age 12 with her front right leg. The vet said she was getting arthritis in it. She also had been on joint meds before this developed, but it would come and go. Sometimes it would last a long time and sometimes it would go away after about a week. This went on four the last 2 years.
I ordered the Promaxol about 3 months ago. Baby started getting better after about 2 weeks and I have been able to take her off the pain meds she had been taking. She only gets her Promaxol and joint supplement now and has had no more problems running and getting into everything again like she did when she was younger. If you did not know she would be 15 years old on Christmas Day, you would think she was no older than 5 or 6 years old. My story is not as good with Little Bit. She still has a lot of pain and does not get around good.I cant seem to be able to take her off her meds which I hope to be able to one day.I started giving her 1/2 dose in the morning 1/2 dose in the evening to see if it would help keep the Promaxol in system longer, but it has not done the trick. She has made some improvements with the Promaxol. I will keep giving it to her. Maybe its just going to take longer with her.
