My 13 yr. old Lab Mix (73 lbs) having diabetes now for over 3 years and on 38 units of Novolin 70/30 twice daily also worse. He has a terrible time walking now as his back legs are so stiff, he can’t lift himself. Dog Blood Sugar Level

My dog (PUNKIN) has just recently started taking insulin. Levels are still on the high side (620). We started giving her 8 units a week and a half ago and as of this morning she is at 11 units twice a day. Does this supplement help to lower the sugar levels as well?

Dia-IonX

My dog was taking 3cc’s of insulin, directed by the vet. I took him back for a test of urine and he upped it to 4. The dog seems like he feels awful. He will not eat dog food, so I feed him Ham and rice right before I give him his injection 2 times a day. He seems to be feeling worse since I upped the dosage, but the vet says we have to get it stable in the urine first and then do a blood test.

Special Diet for Diabetic Dog?

My 11 year old dog has diabetes and his glucose levels are always high never low. Glucose levels range between 225 and 350 even though we have started our 6th bottle of Dia-lonX this week and we started taking it in April of this year. I give him 1/2 teaspoonful in the morning and in the evening with his food. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Our Vet has not put him on any special diet food. What do you think? Should we change his food?

It is harder to get dogs off insulin than it is for cats. However, Dia-IonX can be given while on insulin or other medications. It helps to control the symptoms of diabetes of increased thirst and urination and minimize consequences to the eyes and kidneys.
