If your pet's diet is like the majority, the answer is "probably not!"
Sadly, while convenient and inexpensive (especially compared with our own diet costs!), most commercial pet foods contain too little of these vital nutrients. It's cause for concern, because though true fatty acid deficiency is rare, even lower than ideal levels can be problematic.
If fatty acid levels are too low, the following areas may not be functioning optimally:
Mental Health: In humans, studies have linked fatty acid deficiency with behavior and learning problems and have found that it is unusually common in people with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. Mental symptoms of fatty acid deficiency also include trouble sleeping, attention and memory problems, and emotional problems like depression and anxiety.
Skin, Nail & Fur Health: With fatty acid deficiency there are likely to be skin, nail and fur issues. Generalized skin issues like dermatitis, dryness, dullness, scaliness, dandruff, bumps, and thickened paw pads. Fur issues like coarseness, a straw-like feel, and fur thinning. Nails that break easily and grow slowly are another symptom, as is excessive ear wax.
Visual Health: Dry eyes, poor night vision, sensitivity to bright light, and visual disturbances are all considered symptoms of fatty acid deficiency or imbalance.
Heart Health: Fatty acid deficiency or imbalance has been tied to heart problems like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and poor circulation.
Musculo-Skeletal Health: Inflammation in the joints and connective tissues, as well as general aches and pains are common with fatty acid deficiency.
Immune Health: Commonly, with fatty acid deficiency, sensitivity to allergens will increase and cause skin reactions like eczema and respiratory issues like asthma. There is also an increased susceptibility to certain types of cancer.
Luckily, supporting all these important bodily systems in your pet is simple.
Hello! I'm Dr. Charline Wilson, DVM, affectionately known here as "Dr. Char." As a vet, I pride myself on a holistic approach to pet care and I opt for natural options whenever possible. It's exciting to see more and more people realizing they don't need to choose between a safety or efficiency for their pets. You truly can have it all!
That's why I recommend Omega 3/6/9 for all the cats and dogs I see.
Alongside a quality diet, regular exercise, and any treatments your cat or dog may require, Omega 3/6/9 helps to support the optimal health and function of their brain, skin, coat, eyes, heart, joints, and immune system.
With a blend of flax, fish, and borage seed oil plus vitamin E and linoleic acid (from linseed), Omega 3/6/9 provides a full, balanced spectrum of the essential fatty acids and their beneficial components - DHA, EPA, GLA, OA, LA, and ALA.
With easy-snip softgel capsules, ensuring your favorite furry buddy receives the dosage they need is simple. There's no need to have them swallow a pill or to find and clean a measuring spoon or dosing cup. Just pierce the end of the capsule and squeeze the contents in with their food. Give it a quick mix and serve! Your pets will think they got extra gravy, while you can feel better knowing you're doing the very best for their health.

In 1994, Congress passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) that provided strict guidelines for the labeling and marketing of human dietary supplements. DSHEA established supplements intended for human consumption as a new class of food for purposes of federal regulation. Most animal health supplements are considered "drugs of low regulatory priority" and are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). If the product is intended as a source of minerals and vitamins for a non-human food chain animal (dogs, cats and horses), it is classified as a nutritional or feed supplement and regulated by the FDA and individual state feed control officers through the AAFCO Model Bill. Most states follow the recommendations of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Omega 3/6/9 is considered an animal supplement, therefore falling into this category.
Directions are included on the label. You can give your pets Omega 3/6/9 either in the capsule (for medium and larger dogs), or squeezed onto their food (for smaller dogs or cats).
Each pet 100 pounds and under will need approximately one bottle of Omega 3/6/9 per month. Larger pets and pets with a higher nutritional need may use more than one bottle per month. See your pet's daily Omega 3/6/9 dosage, also found on the product label:
|Pet's Weight||Daily Dosage Size|
|Cats||1 softgel every other day|
|Dogs up to 15 lbs||1 softgel every other day|
|Dogs 15-50 lbs||1 softgel daily|
|Dogs over 50 lbs||1 softgel per 50 lbs of body weight daily|
You can give your pet Omega 3/6/9 with their meal. If you are squeezing the product onto their food, you may split the daily dose between their two main meals.
The Office of Dietary Supplements of the US Food and Drug Administration suggests you check with your health care professional before taking a supplement, especially when combining or substituting them with other foods or medicine. We recommend you inform your veterinarian of your choice to use any natural products so they may have a full picture of your pet care regimen.
Along with taking the VETiONX product appropriate for your pet, pets should be given a diet low in grain and gluten, focusing on preparing a raw diet of meat and vegetables when possible. Other dietary restrictions, such as for diabetic pets, must also be taken into consideration. To support health, give enzymes with each meal, add a probiotic, and a fish oil or omega-3 supplement daily. Provide your pet with chemical-free, purified water. Regular moderate exercise for your pet will help to maintain and improve their health and keep the body systems working properly.
Absolutely. We recommend you stagger the doses throughout the day so your pet experiences the maximum effect from each product.
